The Urban Poles

I chose Kensington Market as the primary location for my data collection in the photography project because it epitomizes the vibrant urban life of Toronto. This neighborhood is a true melting pot of cultures, and it pulsates with an artistic energy that is uniquely captivating. Among the many forms of street art that adorn its streets, the graffiti and poster, sticker slap street arts stand out as compelling representations of the area’s creative spirit.

To capture this essence, I embarked on a photographic journey, focusing on over 30 street poles scattered throughout the market. Each of these poles boasts a distinctive appearance and is adorned with an array of posters, stickers, and street art. This diversity not only made for visually intriguing data but also provided a rich tapestry of insights into the dynamic cultural tapestry of Kensington Market.
